Composite fencing in Keighley
Tired of painting and treating a timber fence every few years? Composite fencing is worth a look. Tell us about your garden and we’ll get back to you to arrange a quote.
What composite fencing is
Composite boards are usually made from a mix of wood fibre and plastic. They slot into posts (often aluminium) to make a solid screen, and come in a range of colours, commonly greys, browns and black.
Composite or timber?
| Composite | Timber | |
|---|---|---|
| Upfront cost | Higher | Lower |
| Upkeep | No painting or treating; an occasional wash | Needs treating every few years |
| Rot | Doesn’t rot like timber | Can rot, especially at ground level |
| Look | Even, modern finish | Natural wood that weathers over time |
On price, MyBuilder’s Keighley fencer page puts premium metal or composite fencing at about £80–£150 per panel, compared with £25–£40 and up for basic plastic panels (MyBuilder: fencers in Keighley, checked October 2026). Fitting is extra, and your quote will depend on the job.
Is it right for your garden?
- Exposed spots. Solid composite panels catch the wind like any solid fence, so firm posts and footings matter on hillside gardens.
- Mixing materials. Some people use composite on the side they see most and timber elsewhere to keep costs down.
- Gates. Matching composite or aluminium gates are available; ask when you get your quote.
